We look after over 300 historic buildings and nearly one million works of art, which need constant care to maintain them. You can help protect these important buildings and collections by donating today.
While the studio isn’t generally open to the public, we do offer groups the chance to come and have a look around and meet the team as part of an organised tour. Our expert staff are also available to give talks and lectures to local groups about their work. Find out how to arrange a tour or a talk.
We are opening for Heritage Open Days on the 14th September 2024.
This is an opportunity for individuals to visit the studio at one of 4 times during the day. Please email us for details or take a look at the Heritage Open Days website.
Textile Conservation Studio Tours (heritageopendays.org.uk)
We offer a limited number of tours each year for pre-arranged groups with a maximum of 20 people.
The tour lasts for approximately 1½ hours and is a rare opportunity to see precious objects up close whilst under conservation and to talk to the conservators about their work and what’s involved.
Please note that there is a charge for these tours.
Conservation staff are happy to give talks to local groups about all aspects of their work. Topics could range from the National Trust's textiles in general and life as a conservator to lectures about specific conservation projects.
We normally charge a fee for these events to cover time and expenses.
To find out more about bringing a group to the Textile Conservation Studio, or to arrange a talk or lecture with one of our conservation experts, email the team at TextileStudio@nationaltrust.org.uk.
