Unmissable Anglesey
Join a garden tour this May - June to discover more about the plants, trees, flowers and history of the gardens at Anglesey Abbey.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Follow one of our knowledgeable garden guides on a tour of the gardens, taking in seasonal highlights on the way. Tours run at 11am and 1.30pm from Monday to Friday, starting at the visitor centre. If you'd like to join a garden tour, please ask a member of the welcome team for more information when you arrive.
Tours vary, taking in different routes and garden highlights throughout May and June:
Look out for the Wisteria sinensis by Lode Mill and by the house, as well as Choisya ternata and Prunus padus (Bird Cherry flowering) in the gardens.
The Herbaceous Border opens in May, where you can see up to 150 varieties of perennials, including alliums, irises and peonies.
The Rose Garden is always a highlight at Anglesey Abbey, with the first roses usually appearing in June. The Rose Garden was extended in 2024 and you can now see 60 varieties of English rose, some about to bloom for their second summer. You can also see three beautiful climbing roses on the walls of the house at Anglesey Abbey.
Other seasonal highlights include the Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip Tree flowering), Aesculus indica (Indian Horse Chestnut flowering), Lime trees and Philadelphus species.
These garden tours are free, but we would gratefully receive a £5 donation that goes towards caring for Anglesey Abbey.
