Christmas at Botallack - the Red River Singers
Hark! The Glad Sound of Cornish Carols - an evening of beautiful Cornish Carolling and the tales behind the songs.
- Booking advisable
Cornish carols are unique and have a long history which deserves recognition. These carols are part of Cornwall’s rich communal singing. In 2016 Sally Burley and Hilary Coleman began exploring the continuity and revival of the Cornish carolling tradition. During the winter they travelled around Cornwall, recording stories, memories and local versions of carols. Their book, ‘Hark! The Glad Sound of Cornish Carols’, was published in November 2017 and received an Holyer An Gof award in 2018 as well as the Publishers Cup. Hilary will be telling tales of their adventures as well as ‘illustrating’ the talk with carols by the Red River Singers. Carol lyrics will be provided so get festive and join in!
