Godolphin Woods Walk

An easy circular walk through the Godolphin Woods, where the evidence of Godolphin's industrial mining heritage remains. Full of wildflowers, tin mining history and perfect for leisurely dog walks. The first half of the loop is level and easily accessible, making it a route for everyone to enjoy.

Mine Shafts & Road

Please stick to the paths, this route is through old mining land and there may be undiscovered mine shafts off the paths. This route crosses a road. Please be cautious and check for traffic before crossing.

Start point

Godolphin main car park; grid reference: SX 559 319 ; what3words: ///quit.warms.casually

Step 1

Leave the car park, turn left and follow the lane down to the road. Turn left and follow the road 150m to the next corner (beware of traffic). Cross the road with care and turn right onto the straight path into the woods.

Step 2

Continue along the woodland track, which passes behind Godolphin Count House and then across the wooden bridge over Gwedna Stream, and into the eastern part of the woods.

Step 3

Turn right at the T-junction with another track. Follow it for a short distance, then turn right again at the waymarked path into the woods.

Step 4

Take the narrow winding path immediately on the left, over uneven ground, passing behind a private house. When you emerge onto the driveway, turn right and immediately left through a gate into Blowing House Field. Head up the righthand edge of the field to reach the stile in the far corner.

Step 5

Take care as you emerge onto the road and cross over to a tall step stile in the wall opposite. Once over the wall, follow the path straight ahead and through the gate in the far corner into Upper Horsepark.

Step 6

Go straight ahead along the path and through the gate and the far end, this path follows past the rear of Godolphin. Continue onto this path until you reach the Godolphin reception and tea-room.
