Accessibility at Pentire

We try to make Pentire headland as accessible as possible. Find out more about the facilities you’ll find at the main visitor welcome hub at Pentireglaze and how you can best access this special stretch of coast.

Arrival and parking

  • You’ll find dedicated Blue Badge parking at Pentireglaze car park (PL27 6QY). The toilets, café and Tramper (all-terrain mobility scooter) hire are also located here, within 10-20 metres of the parking spaces.
  • Next to the visitor courtyard there is a cycle rack, dedicated parking for motorbikes and EV charging stations.
  • The surfacing of the car park and adjacent courtyard is concrete and step free.

Facilities

  • There is a separate disabled toilet, as well as a disabled cubicle in the ladies and gents toilets.
  • A separate baby changing room is located next to the main toilets.
  • You’ll also find a Changing Places facility with adjustable table and ceiling hoist. The Changing Places is available any time with a RADAR key or ask a member of staff.
  • Pentyr Café is located in the visitor courtyard. Food and drink is ordered from a counter accessed by a ramp (a hearing loop is available). Orders can be brought to your table.

  • Indoor seating, with a wood burner for cooler days, is accessed from the visitor courtyard. It has a step free entrance and ramp to access the whole building.
  • The outdoor seating area has accessible picnic tables with umbrellas for sunny days.

Orchard

  • The orchard can be accessed at any time by buggies, mobility scooters and wheelchair users. A compacted stone surfaced path leads down into and around the orchard.
  •  There are accessible picnic tables and shady areas as well as a step free viewpoint out to sea.
  • The orchard is a sensory space with a variety of trees, plants, flowers and herb beds. There are willow tunnels incorporating visual and audible stimuli including metallic and bamboo chimes, wind spinners and mirrors.
  • You’ll also find a nest swing on which users can sit or lie.

Moving around Pentire

  • An all-terrain mobility scooter (Tramper) is available to hire in partnership with Countryside Mobility. Full details including on availability and hire process can be found here.

  • Buggies are available to use on a first come first served basis. Just ask a member of the Welcome Team.
