Our free monthly 10k runs take in stunning coastal views around Pentire headland and are a great way to blow away the cobwebs. All abilities are welcome to take part in the trail runs at Pentire, but this is a challenging route on a rugged section of the South West Coast Path. Find out below how to get involved, when the runs take place, what to bring and what to expect.

Pentire's trail run

The Trust10 is a challenging, waymarked trail run that invites runners to come along and enjoy Pentire headland. This monthly run is free, fun and informal. Join in and try something new, train for a race, do it for fun or with family and friends.

When is the run?

Trust10 happens on the fourth Sunday of every month. It includes 1.5 laps of a circular route at Pentire, so there is an option to do a slightly shorter 6.35km route.

Registration opens from 8.30am, pre-run briefing is at 8.50am and the run starts at 9am.

Please note: Toilets are located at Pentireglaze (next to the car park) and available for use during the event. Please check for café opening times.

What if there is really bad weather?

In the event of very bad weather, a final decision on whether the run will go ahead or not will be made at 3pm on the Saturday before. Please check social media here for the most up to date information.

Where is the run?

The Trust10 follows a multi-terrain route, running along farm track, footpaths and the South West Coast Path. There's uneven ground and it can be very muddy after heavy rain. It consists of 1.5 loops around and crossing the headland, so there's also an option to do a 6.35km loop.

The route is marked with pink signs with arrows and there will be a back runner.

Parking

Runners are welcome to use the car park at Pentireglaze and meet in the adjacent courtyard. Parking charges apply, but National Trust members can park for free by scanning their membership card.

What should I be aware of?

Pentire is a working farm and there may be cattle on sections of the route. You will be notified at the start of the run if this is the case.

Take care near livestock

Please take care around livestock. Slow down and if necessary, stop or detour around them. Do not pass between cattle and their young. In the unlikely case of an incident with livestock, the run will be ended and you may be asked to turn around and return to the start.

What should I bring?

This is a multi-terrain trail run, so we recommend trail shoes for negotiating the mud. Please also consider running clothing suitable for the weather (particularly over the winter) as the headland is quite exposed. It's also worth bringing some warm clothes to change into afterwards. Although the route is fully marked, you could bring a phone or device to take a photo of the route.

Please bring your own timing device if timing is important to you; we don't provide times, as this is an informal event. We also suggest bringing water to rehydrate. There is a water fountain and the start/end point.

Who is the run suitable for?

We welcome everyone to give the Trust10 at Pentire a go, but be aware that it's not a parkrun-style event and does include running along narrow coastal footpaths which can be steep and have steps in places. Please be prepared for a lot of ups and downs along the route, which passes by some unfenced cliff edges.

The recommended age of runners is 14 and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Unfortunately, the route is not suitable for buggies as the run is predominantly along the South West Coast Path.

Can I bring my dog?

Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but must be kept under control and on a fixed lead, (not an extendable one), at all times. This is due to livestock being present on the route. If cattle approach then you should let your dog go.
