Vole walk at Arlington Court

See some of the exciting nature recovery work being undertaken at Arlington with this short circular walk directly from the visitor car park. From orchards to woodland creation, wetland work and the spreading of wildflowers seed, along with views out across to the Exmoor Coast.

Start point
Arlington Court car park, grid ref: SS611408
Stage 1
Head out the back of the main carpark, through the overflow and turn right towards the mazzard orchard.

Stage 2
Take the grass track on the right marked by a waymarker post (with a rabbit on it) and pass through two gates into another field.

Stage 3
Head across the field on the grass track for about 160m to the finger post on the far side of the field.
Stage 4
At the finger post head through two gates and follow the track around to the left, marked by the post. The path is lined by recently planted trees.
Stage 5
Continue to follow the track around to the left as it heads gently down the hill for around 140m.

Stage 6
Pass through the stone wall and turn right. At the end of the track pass through the gate and then take a sharp left at the finger post marked Vole walk. Continue up the slope and pass through another gate into an open field. Continue across the field following the way markers for about 650m.
Stage 7
At the end of the field, head through the gate and up the slope on your left, following the markers directing you back to the car park.

North Woolley Loop
The North Woolley loop is a t new walk on the edge of the Arlington estate, which connects existing footpaths into a 3km circular route. It takes in views across the parkland and out over Exmoor, through woodland and wildflower grassland, past the historic gatehouse (Woolley Lodge) and through a tunnel. You can either park near the lodge or make it a longer walk by joining the route via the Centenary Walk.
