This Christmas, you are invited to get into the festive spirit at Buckland with seasonal shopping, treats, music and a beautiful historical display in the Great Barn and Abbey.

Small Barn Winter Mini Markets

Saturdays and Sundays 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24 November, 10-4

Join us for a celebration of local crafts and food stalls across three weekends in November. With 15 different stalls each weekend, along with seasonal music and activities , it's the perfect way to start the festive season.

Please note that there will be stalls in the small barn and Visitor Welcome areas only this year. The cafe, shop, second hand bookshops and galleries are also open on these dates.

Why not enjoy a stroll around the grounds too, and take part in the family Autumn Tree Trail?

A Viking Yule display

30 November - 31 December, 10-4

Step into the Great Barn which will be transformed into a Viking Mead Hall to celebrate Yule.

The Abbey will also be decorated with each room reflecting a medieval winter tradition.

Father Christmas

Father Christmas is unable to join us at Buckland Abbey this year as he's very busy up at the North Pole. Why not join us for festive storytelling with his elves instead?

Winter Solstice Walk

Saturday 21 December

Welcome the winter solstice with us! Join us for a walk to watch the sunrise, followed by breakfast in the café.

Tickets £10, please book online.

Christmas storytelling

Join Father Christmas' elves for some festive storytelling in the Abbey.

Normal admission applies - please check at Visitor Welcome for exact times. There is no need to book this event.

Wassail

Sunday 5 January

Join Dartmoor Border Morris to scare away evil spirits in the orchard and ensure a good harvest this year at our Wassail - remember your pots and pans to make lots of noise. The event starts with a Mummer's play in the Great Barn, and will then process to the orchard for the Wassail itself.
