If arriving by car, you will need to book in advance to secure a parking space. Please limit your stay to three hours for the benefit of other visitors. If you wish to visit by motorhome, please contact us before your arrival. We have limited spaces for midibuses and motorhomes, which need to be booked in advance.

By road
From Torquay and Paignton follow signs to Brixham, until you reach the village of Churston. Follow brown tourist signs (directing you to Greenway), through the village of Galmpton. Follow Manor Vale Road and continue on to Greenway Road. Follow Greenway Road past the school and out of the village; continue on for approximately two miles until you reach Greenway. Please respect the speed limits in the village and drive with care.
Parking: Parking spaces must be booked in advance. Charges for non-National Trust members: £1.10 per hour, max 3 hours stay. No parking on Greenway Road or in Galmpton village.
Sat Nav: Postcode TQ5 0ES will direct you through Galmpton village and along Greenway road; continue to follow Greenway road until you reach Greenway.
On foot
Dart Valley Trail from Kingswear (Higher Ferry) 4 miles, Dartmouth 6 miles. Moderate walk with some steep ascents, challenging underfoot. Greenway walk from Broadsands or Churston station 3½ miles along country lanes.
By train
Paignton 4 ½ miles, Churston 2 miles. Please be aware that there are no steam train services in operation.
By bus
Please be aware that there are no bus services in operation to Greenway at present. Full sized coaches cannot access Greenway; to bring a group by midi-coach, places must be pre-booked by calling 01803 843235.
By bicycle
By ferry
Ferry services running from March to October: Greenway Ferry Company. From Dartmouth (park at Darmouth park and ride, six hours minimum parking required) call Greenway Ferry Service: 01803 882811. From Dittisham (pay and display parking in The Ham car park, limited spaces in July and August), regular ferry service available every day; ring the bell for service.

About Greenway
This relaxed and atmospheric house is set in the 1950s, when Agatha and her family would spend summers and Christmases here with friends, relaxing by the river, playing croquet and clock golf, and reading her latest mystery to their guests. The family were great collectors, and the house is filled with an important and varied collection of ceramics, Tunbridgeware, silver, and books, including first editions of her novels. It is also home to archaeological artefacts acquired in the Middle East where Agatha accompanied her husband, archaeologist Max Mallowan on excavations. In the library a frieze was painted in 1944 when the house was requisitioned by the US Coastguards as part of the preparations for D-Day.
The Georgian house you see today was built in the late 18th century for a successful sea merchant, but there has been a house on this site for over 400 years. In the 16th century a Tudor mansion called Greenway Court was built for the Gilbert family who were leading soldiers and seafarers, who also received patents to establish colonies in Ireland, Newfoundland and Maine.
In the garden a large and romantic woodland drifts down the hillside towards the Dart estuary. The walled gardens are home to a restored peach house and vinery, as well as an allotment cared for by local school children. A visit to Greenway isn't complete without seeing the Boathouse, scene of the crime in 'Dead Man’s Folly', and the battery complete with cannon.
