Christmas in the Garden

It's the most wonderful time of the year! 

Be transported back in time and discover Victorian Christmas traditions as you explore the ground floor of the house this festive season. Each room will celebrate a different Christmas tradition from gift giving to ghost stories - which one will be your favourite?

Please note, the House will be closed on the 24, 25 & 26 December. Only the ground floor of the House is open for Victorian Christmas.

Victorian Christmas at Knightshayes

Discover the Formal Garden lit up on selected dates in December. Explore some of the most special places in the Formal garden via an illuminated route. 

Standard admission applies, free for National Trust members.

 The ground floor of the house will remain open during Winter Lights, so why not make your evening more magical with a visit to see a traditional Victorian Christmas. Last entry to the House & Garden is 18:30.

The Stables Shop & Cafe will also be open, it's the perfect place to pick up a hot drink or do some Christmas shopping.

Looking for a quieter visit? We recommend visiting after 6pm.

Winter Lights at Knightshayes 2024

Father Christmas returns to Knightshayes this December. Dressed in traditional green, Father Christmas will be telling stories and giving gifts to all good children.  After your visit, explore the house decorated for a traditional Victorian Christmas.

Your child's ticket includes meeting Father Christmas, admission to the House & Gardens, and a present.

Adult admission is not included in this ticket. If you are not a National Trust member, you will need to purchase an admission ticket for each adult in Visitor Reception when you arrive. National Trust members can scan their membership cards.

3 children maximum per slot. If you wish to book for more than 3 children at a time, please book 2 slots next to each other.

Please arrive at Visitor Reception 20 minutes before your slot. Allow 10 - 15 minutes to walk between Visitor Reception and Father Christmas' Grotto.
