Bigbury and Burgh Island views walk to Ayrmer Cove
This short, gentle walk takes you through picturesque farmland to a spot above Ayrmer Cove that's perfect for a picnic. There are impressive views of Bigbury and Burgh Island, with its famous art deco hotel, and a chance to see rare birds and flowers.

Start point

Step 1
From the car park, follow the path waymarked to Toby's Point, through the bank and out towards the coast.
Step 2
Continue along the track until you arrive at a field gate. Take the path to the right. This path has been levelled with a solid base to provide an easy access route to the beautiful Devon coastline.
Step 3
Continue along this path. Stop at the resting points and enjoy the views across the valley to Bigbury and Burgh Island.
Step 4
Towards the end of the path, you'll see a dry-stone wall on your right-hand side. In summer, adders often bask here in the sun.
Step 5
At the end of the path, take in the stunning views down to Ayrmer Cove and out over to Burgh Island. The bench here is a good spot for a picnic and to fully soak up your surroundings and spot local wildlife. Return to your starting point at the car park by retracing your steps.
