Behind the scenes with Kingston Lacy's conservation team
Ever wondered what it takes to care for Kingston Lacy? Join a guided tour this January to go behind the scenes in the house and see the conservation work that's being done to look after this special place for future generations.
With more than 13,000 items to care for, the House & Collections team has its work cut out. To ensure future generations will be able to see and marvel at these beautiful things, there's a rolling programme of cleaning and maintenance thoughout the year. But some items – such as floors, ceilings and panelling – can only be deep cleaned safely or effectively when visitor access is limited.
So in January, access to the house is limited to guided tours that take you behind the scenes as the team carry out their work. You'll discover what threatens our magnificent collection, how the conservation team protects it, and why this is not your normal deep clean.
Join a guided tour this January. Booking advised, free event (normal admission applies).
