Join us at Shaw's Corner, the home of playwright George Bernard Shaw, to find out more about volunteering with us. 

This year, we have a brand new House Guide role available. This role will be integral to managing our new ‘free-flow’ model on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. You’ll be dotted around the home, on hand to help visitors make the most of their visit and to answer any questions they may have. Join our open day session on 14 February for the opportunity to register your interest, talk to staff and volunteers about the role, join a house tour, and see first hand how our volunteers help us to look after this special place.

Drop in between 12.00pm and 3.00pm.
Refreshments will be available.

We are looking for volunteers to join our team and bring Shaw's Corner to life for our visitors.

Volunteer Open Day

Make your way along the trail and find activities for the whole family. The trail takes place between 17 and 21 April, from 10.00am to 12.30pm, with last entry at 12.00pm, so come along and explore the beautiful gardens of Shaw’s Corner. Prices are £3.50 per trail which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg.
*Suitable for people with milk, egg, gluten, peanut and tree nut allergies.

Alongside Bernard, the Red Kite, children will explore our charming garden and learn where bugs might be found inside and where they might be useful outside!
Once complete, a chocolate egg will be available to collect.

With its intimate setting and limited capacity of just 15 children per time slot, our enclosed garden provides the perfect sanctuary for little ones seeking a tranquil and personalised Easter experience. Whether you're introducing small children to the wonders of nature or seeking a peaceful outing with older adults and grandparents, our springtime adventure promises fun for all the family.

Bugs are great for the garden, but cause mischief in historic houses! This spring, enjoy learning about the bugs that call Shaw’s Corner home and help put them back where they belong on our Easter garden trail.

Easter egg hunt at Shaw's Corner: Bugs Life

This exclusive opening invites you to take a tour of our blossom and seasonal plants with Senior Gardener, Matt. Along the way, you’ll have behind the scenes access to Matt’s upcoming highlights and hear of stories, tips and tricks for a ‘blooming’ beautiful spring garden.  

The tour will last one hour, with the chance to ask questions at the end. A complimentary hot or soft drink will be served upon arrival.  

5.30pm-6.00pm: arrival, with welcome drink
6.00pm-7.00pm: garden tour
7.00pm-7.30pm: Ask the gardener Q+A session
