At Sherborne Farm on the Sherborne Park Estate in Gloucestershire, the National Trust is working in partnership with a tenant to plant 53,000 trees to create a patchwork of new woodlands across the historic estate.
Funded by Defra’s Trees for Climate Fund, the project's 74.6 hectares (184 acres) of new woodland will form part of The Great Western Community Forest, which covers over 168 square miles stretching from the North Wessex Downs to the River Thames, which has its source in Gloucestershire.
We are hosting a planting day on Sunday February 16th that will be open to members of the public. Lend a hand, and contribute to 4,000 trees planted in one week alongside our specialist Ranger teams.
Booking is essential so we have an idea of numbers. Sensible footwear is recommended as we'll be out in the fields, and appropriate clothing for the time of year. Children welcome with a supervising adult. This is a free event.
