VE Day 80. Saturday May 3

8 May 2025 marks 80 years since the victory for Europe over Germany in 1945. Though the Second World War continued globally, VE Day was a moment of collective celebration across the UK, as people of all ages and backgrounds celebrated together.

Saturday May 3 What's On

'This is Your Victory' - a month long interpretation trail across the grounds and house of Chartwell. Learn more about VE Day and the part Winston Churchill played in this momentous day. Go into the house to see specially selected collection items. gifts from around the world, recollections from Churchill's secretaries. Visit the exhibition room to hear stories from our local Westerham community and how the town celebrated the day.

Living History Characters

'UP AN' AT 'EM! History' will be on site all day with their living history characters to delve further into the history of World War II and to bring it to life for the whole family.

Outdoor cinema screening

Join us for a unique and special outdoor screening of the blockbuster 2021 film Operation Mincemeat with a pre-screening live musical performance from Stephanie Belle. This is a ticketed event after normal opening times. Please see separate events listing to book tickets.
