Sargent’s Palette in Bloom
Discover how Ightham Mote inspired internationally renowned artist John Singer Sargent.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
The displays celebrate artist John Singer Sargent, his love of colour and the inspiration he drew from the English Country Garden and his stays at Ightham Mote.
Sargent’s paint box and palettes are on public display offering a rare, behind the scenes glimpse into his technique, working methods and his favourite range of oil paint colours. Seasonal flowers complement the colour ways in Sargent’s paintings, freshly picked from Ightham Mote’s gardens, in arrangements around the house.
