Conservation in Action: Queen’s Room Deep Clean
Watch the House team undertake a deep clean of the Queen’s Room at Sizergh.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
With its rich and varied textiles, paintings and furniture, the Queen’s Room is an important part of Sizergh’s character. This Spring, the House team will be carrying out a vital deep clean to keep the room at its best, and you can see it taking place on 26 and 28 March.
Queen Elizabeth I’s carved overmantel will be freed from a year’s worth of dust fall, and two paintings by the priest, who secretly stayed in the house under the guise of portrait artist, will be taken off the walls and thoroughly condition checked by the team.
