Conservation in Action: Tudor Pewter and other Metals
Spring cleaning at Sizergh continues with Tudor Pewter and other metals.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Sweet moulds, pap boats and bleeding bowls are just some of the fascinating pewter objects in Sizergh’s metals collection and will be on special display while they are condition checked and cleaned using pony hair brushes. The conservation team will be gently heating 17th century pewter chargers and plates using a hairdryer, before applying a thin coating of microcrystalline wax, to help protect against the dreaded pewter disease.
