This year, the team at National Trust Formby are embarking on an ambitious conservation project to restore the sand dunes at Victoria Road. We're doing this by removing the huge amounts of demolition rubble from the old Harington Barracks. The majority of the rubble will be processed on site and re-used to create a replacement, more sustainable car park further inland. This project will create a healthier habitat for rare dune wildlife and a safer, more natural space for people to enjoy for years to come. The Formby Civic Society talk will explore the history of the barracks and more widely the military heritage in Formby. There will also be a chance to find out more from the National Trust about this important conservation project. This talk will be held from 2:30-4:00pm on Wednesday 2 April at the Heritage Centre in Formby Village. Refreshments will be provided and the centre has facilities including toilets. Booking information: Please email formby@nationaltrust.org.uk with your name, phone number and number of tickets required.
