The period of the Civil Wars in Lancashire was a turbulent one when families were divided against each other, and the whole country was put into turmoil. Author and historic armaments specialist David Casserly will give his in-depth talk through the events of the 1640s and the three Civil Wars. Covering a vast amount of content from the involvement of Colonel Richard Shuttleworth and his 5 sons, the Battle of Read bridge, the Earl of Derby's massacre of Bolton and its repercussions and much more. David will have replica arms and armaments of the period on show.
There will be a break for refreshments halfway through, plus an opportunity to look at the replica weapons and chat in person with David. Admission to the Hall included, with time to look around before and after the talk.
