Self-guided walks

With miles upon miles of footpaths to explore, there’s a route for every ability from gentle strolls to more challenging trails.

Peel Tower circular

A two-mile circular route that gives you magnificent views for miles around. When you reach Peel Tower, take a minute to catch your breath and admire the changing scenes from across Greater Manchester, the Derbyshire Pennines and over to North Wales.

Pilgrims Cross and Peel Tower circular

This five-mile circular route takes you across rugged moorland passing a number of interesting landmarks along the way. Once you get to the top of Peel Tower, discover beautiful views of the area as well as the Manchester skyline and at certain days in the year, you can go up to the top of the tower itself.

Holcombe and Bull Hill circular

This eight-mile circular route is a superb challenge for most explorers, with some hilly areas and a high ascent to the summit of Holcombe Hill. This is a fantastic walk, and a perfect way to soak in the natural and varied landscape of this beautiful area.

Stubbins Estate circular

A two-mile circular route that gives you everything, from magnificent views, woodland, riverside rambling, and heritage. Pass through Buckden Wood filled with a variety of precious tree and flower species.
