Talk to volunteer bird ringers and watch a demonstration at Gibside Stables. Learn more about the work they do for nature at Gibside and beyond.
Bird ringing involves putting a lightweight metal ring around a wild bird's leg, each one marked with a unique number. Information about the age, weight, size, health and location of each bird is recorded and submitted to the British Trust for Ornithology. This helps them understand bird population changes and species decline. This information is essential for bird conservation.
Free, normal admission applies. Please note this event is weather dependent and may have to be cancelled in adverse conditions.
