A Darkroom discovery: celebrating photography

An exciting new discovery at Ormesby Hall! Recent research has revealed that Ormesby Hall once had its very own darkroom.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Inspired by this new room discovery, this year at Ormesby Hall, we are celebrating photography. The Pennyman family had a passion for photography that spanned three generations, both collecting photographs and taking their own, so visit soon to discover where they had their own darkroom and why.

When you visit take a trip to the photographic studio, where you can choose your own backdrop and props for a photograph, then print it for free on the CEWE Photostation, currently on loan, before challenging one another in a fun camera matching game. For those interested in the history of photography The Secrets of the Collection exhibition shares the stories of the historic cameras, photographs and other collection items on display.

Ormesby Hall is open Thursdays – Mondays, 10.30am – 4pm. Normal admission applies to visit Ormesby Hall and there is no need to book to visit.
