Archaeology documentation
Visit the Mahogany Room off the Entrance Hall to see our Conservation Team at work, cleaning, documenting and safely storing archaeological finds from the Curtain Rises project.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
The National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported Curtain Rises project ran from 2018-2022 and spanned the entire Seaton Delaval Hall site. As part of the project's surveys, archaeological investigations were carried out.
The Conservation Team is now cleaning, documenting and safely storing each individual find, and you can watch them at work!
To maintain conservation conditions, most of the time they’ll have the door closed, but feel free to push it open, pop in and have a chat with them about their work.
