Helios Under the Sun: A Solar Celebration with Kielder Observatory
Visit the hall to see artist Luke Jerram's Helios and join expert astronomers from Kielder Observatory for everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the sun but were afraid to ask.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Three expert astronomers from Kielder Observatory will be on hand to answer all your questions big and small about our sun, such as ‘how old is it?’, ‘how big is it?’ and ‘what's it made from?’. They’ll bring a special telescope with solar filters for observing the sun directly and searching for sunspots across its surface (weather permitting, of course!). No question is too big or small!
This event is free with standard admission or your membership.
