Helios: Sunrise

Set your alarm clocks to be one of the first to see Helios, a brand-new 7-metre diameter sculpture by artist Luke Jerram. Helios, Ancient Greek for the sun, follows Luke’s previous celestial sculptures of ‘Gaia’ ‘Museum of the Moon’ and ‘Mars’.

  • Booking essential
  • Admission applies

With rippling lights, solar imagery and sounds of the sun recorded by NASA, you’re invited to come and experience this audio-visual wonder.

Scaled so that each centimetre represents 2000 kilometres of the real sun’s surface, this is a unique opportunity to take a closer look at the star and details such as sunspots and solar flares.

Join us from 6am and from Visitor Welcome, head up to the Entrance Hall to see Helios as the sun rises. Why not head to the Brewhouse for breakfast… eggs sunny side up, of course!

This event is free for National Trust members, but you must book a ticket to attend. You can also book a ticket ahead and pay standard admission at Visitor Welcome on the day if you are not a member. Please note that open areas are restricted to the Central Hall, Saloon, South Lawn, South East Gardens and Brewhouse during this event. You are welcome to arrive any time between 6-9am, but please note that the Central Hall and Saloon will close at 9am to prepare for regular opening hours.
