Every Tuesday throughout June, July and August you can join one of our expert rangers for a guided walk at Castle Coole.

Where to meet: The Grand Yard 

Duration: Approx 1.5 hours.

There is no charge for these walks, normal admission applies or scan your membership card when you arrive.

Your guide will greet you at the Visitor Centre at 2pm. You'll learn about Castle Coole Estate before the mansion as we know it existed.

Join these fascinating guided walks that take you on a journey into the past, exploring the history of the houses and garden that existed on the estate, before the current mansion was built.

In the footsteps of time: from castle to mansion

This magical experience takes you through the stunning rooms of one of Ireland's finest Neo-classical houses. You will walk in the footsteps of the 4th Earl and his household, exploring the world of life both above and below stairs.

Your adventure begins in the Grand Hall where you’re greeted by the Butler, with a glass of Prosecco. You will then be guided through the formal entertaining rooms meeting both members of the Earl’s family and his servants, finding out interesting facts about their daily lives in Castle Coole and their travels abroad.

The tour continues up the Grand Staircase to the Chinese Room where you will meet Lady Dorothy, one of the Earl’s daughters and find out about her very interesting life. The tour upstairs concludes in the State Bedroom, before descending the stairs to the servants’ quarters. A Footman awaits to take you to the bustling kitchen. Here, the Cook, shares what life was like below stairs during that era.

Your tour concludes with wine and cheese in the kitchen. This experience offers a unique blend of historical insight, engaging storytelling, and a taste of aristocratic life. The cost for the event is £27.50.
