Cornmill Demonstrations

See history brought to life as you watch the 18th century water-powered cornmill in action.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Talented volunteers will be running the cornmill machinery on the last Sunday of every month.

Once a tidal mill, the lovingly restored water mill powers a host of machinery to turn wheat into edible grains. You'll be transported back in time to a everyday life at Castle Ward in the 18th and 19th centuries as you listen the to the machines clunk and whirr and watch the massive grindstones in action.

Volunteers will be on hand to demonstrate and answer any questions about the workings of the mill.
