Volunteer Led Walk

Don't go astray, we'll lead the way! Discover more to Castle Ward on one of our volunteer led walks. This 5K stroll will explore the north-west areas of the estate including Downpatrick Avenue, Mallards Plantation and parts of the boundary trail.

Embark on a captivating 3.2-mile (5 km) adventure starting and ending at the Stableyard. This circular trail features:

Diverse Terrains: From grassy meadows and hilly sections to tarmac paths and woodland trails. Scenic Spots: Stroll through Downpatrick Avenue, Mallard Plantation, and open parkland with stunning views.

Family-Friendly: Suitable for adults, families, children, and those with all-terrain wheelchairs or pushchairs. Historical Charm: Explore the original route to the Mansion, Temple Water, and the old canal.

Expect a journey of about 2 hours starting from 11am, with a gentle 30-meter ascent. Enjoy seasonal flora, fauna, and occasional farm animals.

Note: Moderate grading, with road crossings and uneven terrain.

Refresh at The Tearoom and make use of available restrooms.
