Join us in commemorating 80 years since VJ Day with live music in the garden from the Dukeries Ukeries Band, playing a mix of 1940's music and beyond.

On 14 August 1945 Japan surrendered ending WWII, by 15 August news had reached America due to the time difference and the treaty was signed on 2 September. Visit the house and learn more of how the brothers, William and Walter, served their country throughout September. Enjoy a pot of tea in the garden whilst listening to live music from Dukeries Ukeries Ukulele Band on 14 & 15 August at intervals throughout the day. Why not have a chat to them they may take a request or even let you have a go!

- Suitability
Children welcome with an accompanying adult.
- Meeting point
Meet in reception at No5 Blyth Grove, Warwick Villa once checked in make your way to the garden. You do not need to book to sit in the garden but entry to the historic house is via timed ticket only.
- What to bring and wear
Dress according to the weather outside and remember it can get chilli when sat. Only drinks bought from the tea room can be consumed in the garden however you are welcome to bring your own food.
- Accessibility
Mr Straw's House has many steps into the house and out to the garden. When visiting the historic house please note it is a one way system up and down three flights of step stairs. There are handrails throughout the property.
- Other
You are welcome to have bags and your belongings with you throughout No 5 Warwick Villa. Please note when visiting the historic house, No 7 Endcliffe Villa, we do not allow bags to help maintain our interiors and wallpapers. We have a secure lockable cupboard in reception where you can leave any belongings before entering the house.
