Weaving Course: Textured Weaving
11 October: using a rigid heddle loom, you'll move from producing plain weave to creating textured weaving by manipulating the warp.

Rigid heddle looms are designed to produce plain weave (over one thread and under the next). However, textured weaving can be produced by manipulating the warp (the threads which are attached to the loom).
You'll start by doing some plain weave. You'll then insert a stick at the back of the loom, allowing you to weave a number of patterns by going over three threads and under one as well as going over one and under three. You can also form patterns by twisting the warp as well as pulling the warp together with the weft. The weaving you will take home can be used as a mat or made into a small bag.
Whilst this course is a good follow up to an introductory weaving course, it is also suitable for those with no weaving experience.
The tutor for this course is Angela Pawlyn. Angela is a member of both the Oxford and Kennet Valley Guilds of Weavers Spinners and Dyers. She has nearly fifty years of weaving experience and teaches at several venues across Oxfordshire. We keep class sizes small to allow you plenty of time with the course tutor.
This course takes place on 11 October, 10am-4pm. There will be a short break for lunch and tea/coffee is provided.

The Heritage and Rural Skills Centre is located in Coleshill village. Follow signs for the Coleshill Estate Office for the car park and look out for signs directing you to the location of the course.
- What to bring and wear
All tools and materials included. Wear practical clothes suitable for crafting. Please bring your own refreshments (or the means to purchase these from the on-site café).
- Accessibility
Toilets on site, including accessible toilet. Level access into the teaching space. Some uneven surfaces such as cobbles due to the historic nature of the building. Please contact us if you require an accessible parking space or if you would like to have an informal chat about access before you book.
- Other
Mess room available for course participants to use during breaks. Drinking water and facilities for making tea and coffee available. Refreshments/lunches available to purchase from on-site café.
