Steel Cotton Rail Trail: Bamford to Hope

A moderate guided walk beginning at Bamford Station and ending at Hope Station via Win Hill and Hope Brink.

  • Booking essential

To celebrate 130 years of the Hope Valley train line passenger service, we are leading a series of guided walks traversing the entire length of the Peak District from Dore to Chinley. Each walk will begin and end at a different train station, exploring the peaks and footpaths that flank England’s most picturesque train line.

This fourth section is a moderately challenging 6-mile walk beginning at Bamford Station and ending at Hope Station. The route ascends Win Hill, with panoramic views of the Hope Valley and Ladybower Reservoir and follows Hope Brink until descending back into the valley and on to Hope Village.

This walk includes short sections of road, a steep ascent and an uneven footpath. Dogs on leads are welcome but there may be some stiles. The walk is not suitable for pushchairs or prams.

These walks coincide with the launch of High Peak and Hope Valley Community Rail Partnership’s Steel Cotton Rail Trail. This waymarked trail snakes from Midland Station in the centre of Sheffield to Piccadilly Station in Manchester.
