Dudmaston Hall and Dingle walk

Surrounded by traditional woodland and with a lakeside garden, Dudmaston Hall has been a family home since the 17th century and this walk is teeming with history and wildlife. Please check opening arrangements before you visit. This walk is not accessible all year round.

Start point

National Trust orchard car park, grid ref: SO746887

Step 1

The gate for the Dingle is just behind Visitor Reception. Go through the gate and turn right. Follow the path downhill to the Dingle.

Step 2

Proceed through the gate (please close it behind you) and follow the trail downhill. Go through a second gate and enter the woods. Take the steps to your right before you reach the brook.

Step 3

Continue along the path passing the rustic bridge on your left.

Step 4

Follow the trail along the forested river banks of the Dingle. After passing the Mill Pool on your left you will reach the Big Pool Dam. Take the path to the right, signposted for Dudmaston.

Step 5

Continue along the banks of the Big Pool, passing the boathouse as you go.

Step 6

Enter the pedestrian gate and cross the meadow towards the Hall.

Step 7

At the marked gate, you may enter the Garden (assistance dogs only please) and make your way to the Hall. If you have a dog or the garden is closed, turn right and continue up the hill to your starting point at the car park.
