Discover the accessibility features at Kinver Edge and the Rock Houses. The historic Rock Houses and countryside we care for present challenges in creating access for all, but we are working to ensure Kinver Edge and the Rock Houses are accessible to as many visitors as possible. Here you’ll find information about how to make the most of your visit.

Parking and arrival

There is car parking in the layby on Compton Road, with designated bays for Blue Badge holders. Visitor Reception and the picnic area in the meadow has step-free level access into it. Other points of interest are accessed via ramps and slopes or steps.

Visitors do not need to enter the Reception, staff will come out to deal with enquiries and payments.

Access around the Rock Houses

Throughout the historic site, paths are uneven, with gravel, cobble, and natural surfaces and steep ramps/slopes.

For wheelchair access to the Tea Room, please let Visitor Reception know on arrival, the gate can be opened for access via the woodland path. The path is moderately steep and has a gravel/natural surface. When up on the Tea Room level, the Book Shed and Tea Room have ramped access.

The picnic area in the meadow has stepped access, then is accessed across unmown grass.

Toilets

Toilets can be found behind the Tea Room. There are two standard sized cubicals which are have step free access, and a larger toilet room accessed via two steps which has adaptations such as grab rails.
