Living History camp
Dunster Castle's living history volunteers will be bringing the English Civil War to life with a pop-up camp, including live musket firing and weapon demonstrations.

A living history camp will be set up on the forecourt of the castle for visitors to experience the sights, sounds and smells of life during the English Civil War. Discover what the camp inhabitants ate, how they dressed and learn about the weapons they used to attack and defend. The day includes firing of muskets during weapon demonstrations and a children's pike drill.
Please note that the musket demonstrations will include loud noises that may not be suitable for some visitors and dogs.

Children are encouraged to interact with the camp and join.
- Meeting point
The camp and firing will be based on Green Court, in front of the castle.
- Accessibility
Green Court is wheelchair and pushchair accessible. Trampers are available to hire for the morning or afternoon. Courtesy bus with wheelchair lift also available to bring visitors up to Green Court. Please note that the musket demonstrations will include loud noises that may not be suitable for some visitors and dogs. A schedule of firing will be available at the camp and visitor reception.
