Silk Roads Talk at the Riverside Theatre

Silk Roads is a new temporary exhibition at the British Museum that explores the movement of people, objects and ideas that shaped cultures and histories, including the story of Sutton Hoo.

The exhibition focusses on a defining period in the history of the Silk Roads, from about AD 500 to 1000. This time period corresponds with that of Anglo-Saxon England and the royal dynasty buried at Sutton Hoo would have benefitted from these trade routes, including the king buried in the Great Ship Burial at Sutton Hoo.

Join British Museum curator Sue Brunning for a special evening talk at the Riverside Theatre, Woodbridge and discover more about this story of connection between cultures and continents, centuries before the formation of the globalised world we know today.

Doors open at 6.30pm ready for the 45-minute talk to start at 7pm with time for questions. This will be followed by a signing of the Silk Roads book which accompanies the exhibition. Copies of the book will be available for purchase for £27. Payment can be made via either cash or card.

The nearest car park is at Woodbridge train station, next door to the venue. Parking is free from 6pm.
