Time Team Live - Excavation (Sold Out)

Help us discover the next chapter of Sutton Hoo’s history by being a part of our excavation with Time Team this June. Book your place here to be part of the volunteer excavation team. Please see separate listing for finds processing volunteers.

  • Booking essential

Thank you for your interest in booking a ticket to participate in this years’ Time Team project at Sutton Hoo. Due to high levels of interest, all tickets are now sold out. The excavation will be available to be viewed by visitors to the site and project updates will be posted online. Please do visit the National Trust Sutton Hoo website for further details.

The project will be investigating some of the areas of interest discovered during recent geophysical surveys of Garden Field by Time Team. Activities will include careful trowelling, sieving for finds, fieldwalking etc. and will involve a lot of kneeling and crouching down. No previous excavation experience is required but always welcome.

To provide some continuity and commitment to the project, we are asking all participants to book two days of excavating within the four weeks of the project. There is no charge to sign up to participate.

The digging day will be 10am - 5pm with a lunchbreak at approximately 1pm and with morning and afternoon tea breaks. Please meet on site ready for 9.45am.

A volunteer briefing pack with further information will be supplied to each participant at least two weeks before the excavation.
