Total steps: 5
Start point
Landslip car park, Abinger Road, grid ref TQ147433
Step 1
Begin at the far east entrance of Landslip Car Park. Turn right at the exit of the car park, cross the road and follow it for 20m before turning left to take the path signposted by the pink topped trail marker for Frank's Wood. Follow the path through the conifers and you'll reach some steps.
Step 2
Go down the steps. The slopes here are very steep due to landslips over the years. However, new trees have been planted and you can see how the canopy has been opened up with coppicing so that in spring the area is now covered with bluebells. At the bottom of the steps, carry on down the path until you reach a huge pine tree.
Step 3
At the big pine tree, follow the path right, down through the oak tees and over two footbridges. The oaks were planted in 1949 by Frank Longhurst, a National Trust woodsman. Carry on walking through the bluebells as the path begins to rise.
Step 4
Here, you'll come to a T-junction with a bench. Take a moment to sit and enjoy the views across the woodland. When you're ready, continue to climb the hill, winding through the trees and over the streams, until you reach the road.
Step 5
Cross the road to a path that will take you back to your starting point at the car park.
