Celebrate Christmas in style at Polesden Lacey with family and friends. See the extravagantly decorated house styled as a Christmas masquerade ball, ride on the Christmas carousel (selected dates) and enjoy festive food and shopping. 23 November 2024 – 5 January 2025.
The sumptuous Edwardian house at Polesden Lacey is elaborately dressed for a Christmas masquerade ball inspired by Mrs Greville's attendance at the famous Devonshire House Ball in 1897. See the 20ft Christmas tree in the Hall and enjoy immersive scenes throughout the house. Outside, ride on a vintage carousel (selected dates) and take part in a festive trail for families, filled with magic and wonder.

Bring your winter woollies as there is an outdoor Christmas trail to explore, themed on Grizwald the Griffin's First Christmas. This is a self-led trail with a map, no booking required. You can pay for trail sheets at Visitor Reception and collect your special gift at the end. Please keep hold of your trail sheet and present it at the end to recieve your gift. One gift per trail sheet. Last chance to purchase trail sheets wil be 3pm. While we don't have Father Christmas visiting us this year, we warmly welcome children and families to enjoy our fun Christmas trail.
Don't miss out on the chance to ride on a vintage wooden carousel outside the front of the house. £3.50 per ride, open 10.30am to 3.30pm. Pre-book your tickets via our website or purchase on the day from visitor reception or the volunteer stand next to the carousel when this is open. Please note that the carousel runs on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on Thursday 19 December (11am-3pm), Monday 23 December and daily between 26 December and 5 January.
Visit the Café for some delicious Christmas favourites. As well as our usual selection of drinks, there is hot chocolate to keep you warm after a wintery walk around the grounds or estate, exploring the family trail or enjoying the Christmas scenes inside the house.
If you’re feeling peckish we have some favourite winter warmers on offer for lunch and a range of delicious sweet treats, ready to enjoy while soaking up the festive spirit.
Don’t forget to stop by our Christmas shop, fully stocked with artisan gifts, festive accessories and food offerings. Plenty of opportunities to choose special gifts for friends and family.

From stunning décor in the gold Saloon to state-of-the-art conveniences, explore Margaret Greville's house at Polesden Lacey, a luxurious house fit for royalty. The ground floor of the house is beautifully decorated for A Christmas Masquerade, and open every day (10.30am-3pm) until 5 January (except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
The garden at Polesden Lacey has something to offer in every season. Take in the views over Ranmore Common from the South Lawn and indulge in the peace and quiet in the Old Kitchen Garden and Upper Sunken Garden. Or admire the seasonal colour of the Winter Garden.
