The Mulberry Tea-room is the perfect place to stop, catch your breath and refresh yourself. Alongside freshly made coffee and tea, a range of hot and cold meals, sandwiches and light snacks are served.
Nearly all the dishes (at least 75%) served here are made freshly on site. What's more, all the dishes in the tea-room contain honest food that is free from undesirable additives. All our suppliers provide us with ingredients that meet ethical and welfare standards.
The garden team works hard to produce fruit and vegetables for use in the tea-room, so look out for dishes using seasonal produce, including cakes, meals and snacks. Please ask the team in the tea-room for more information.
Most of the food and drink served is prepared on site in our kitchen, using a wide range of ingredients. As a result, we can’t guarantee that any of our food and drink products are completely allergen free.
If you have an allergy or intolerance and would like ingredient information about the food and drink served, please ask the staff, who will be happy to help.
Visited before? We sometimes change our recipes to improve quality and flavour, including the ingredients. When you visit, please speak to one of our team to check the current allergen information for your favourite dish.
Every cuppa or tasty treat you buy helps us to continue looking after places for everyone to enjoy.

Kipling wrote many stories for his children, and there are a range of Kipling storybooks available for you to buy here, alongside biographies and other books about the author.
It is through your purchases and support that we are able to continue to care for nature, beauty and history for everyone, for ever.
The Scullery Second-hand Bookshop is at the end of the visitor route through the house. For those who like a well-worn book, look out for a selection of old Kipling books which can be yours to take home and treasure for a small donation. The money raised from these well-loved books goes towards supporting conservation work at Bateman's.
Take some time to browse the shelves, all carefully arranged into categories, to find something of interest. If you're an avid reader of books, there's bound to be something that catches your eye. There's also a good collection of children's books from the last century that will bring back fond memories and capture the imagination of younger visitors.
We’re always grateful for donations of good-quality books, so if you have any to spare, please drop them off at visitor reception or at the bookshop itself.
