Visit Bodiam Castle this winter, to discover Christmas medieval-style. With plenty of natural foliage and greenery decorating the castle, find out about the extravagant feasts and celebrations that were part of a medieval Christmas.

A Merry Medieval Christmas trail

Help get Bodiam Castle ready for a medieval Christmas feast! It’s a busy time at the castle getting ready for Christmas. From practicing your festive minstrel dance to finding out what was eaten at a medieval Christmas feast, there are plenty of games and activities to enjoy on this merry medieval trail, perfect for families to get in the festive spirit. £2.50 per trail, with a small prize, 10am3pm. Normal admission applies.

Christmas Storytelling

Enjoy the magic of Christmas through festive stories told in the castle. Be enchanted this Christmas by tales of dragons, knights, and castles as part of winter storytelling on selected dates in December. Running throughout the day and 15-20 minutes in length, these tales are held in a cosy, grotto-style castle tower room. Suitable for young children and perfect short drop-in sessions for families. 30 Nov, 1, 7, 15, 22 Dec, 11.30am2.30pm. Normal admission applies.

Live Christmas music in the courtyard

From handbell ringers to choirs, enjoy local groups performing your festive favourites in the castle courtyard.

SOLD OUT: Christmas wreath making workshop

Get into the festive spirit and be shown step-by-step how to make your own wreath. Using fresh, foraged foliage gathered from both the Bodiam Castle and Bateman’s estates, enjoy crafting a personalised wreath for your home. Workshops are 2 hours and booking is essential. Suitable for all skill levels. All materials, tuition and refreshments, and entry to Bodiam Castle are included in the ticket price. 2 & 3 Dec, SOLD OUT.

Winter walks at Bodiam Castle

Enjoy the beauty of the castle under clear, cool skies and crisp winter days. Grab your wellies or walking boots and enjoy a gentle walk around the grounds and take in the castle walls surrounded by the moat. Keep your eyes peeled for photo opportunities and views across the Rother valley.

Whether it's a present for a loved one or a treat for yourself, a snuggly throw or an inspiring cookbook, our shop is packed with great gift ideas. The Wharf Tea-room is open for hot meals or a festive mince pie and a warming drink.
