  • Booking essential

Join us for a collaborative event with the Kino cinema in Rye celebrating Rumer Godden’s famous novel Black Narcissus and the Powell & Pressburger film it inspired.

This special event on Thursday 12th September 2024 is a collaboration between Kino and the National Trust.

Black Narcissus: After opening a convent in the Himalayas, five nuns encounter conflict and tension - both with the natives and also within their own group - as they attempt to adapt to their remote, exotic surroundings.

Lamb House: How did a grave in the Himalayas spawn a chilling tale of nuns driven mad? Learn more about the inspiration behind the film at Lamb House, the former home of Black Narcissus author Rumer Godden. Join a panel of experts in the garden to dive into Godden’s 1939 novel, followed by exclusive access to the house and exhibition space.
