Dyffryn Gardens introductory talks

Volunteer-led, 15 minute talks introducing visitors to Dyffryn Gardens and its history, starting 5 August.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Starting from August 5 there will be a series of free, volunteer-led talks for visitors to join. These 15 minute-long talks will go through an overview of the history of the Cory family, the estate, and the gardens.

They are free and are fully accessible and will take place outside of the Port Cochere (on the north side of house, under the porch). A friendly volunteer will be there at the allotted times to give the talk and then answer any questions.

As the talks are volunteer-led, they're subject to change, please check with the Welcome Team when you arrive to see if there are any changes to the schedule.

The talks run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 11-2.30, lasting 15 minutes each: 11–11.15am 11.45am–12pm 1–1.15pm 1.45–2pm 2.30–2.45pm

The basics

Suitability

Visitors off all ages are welcome to attend the talks.

Meeting point

Meet at the Port Cochere (on the north side of house, under the porch). A volunteer will be there at the allotted talk times.

What to bring and wear

The talks take place outside with very limited shelter under the Port Cochere. These talks will be taking place whatever the weather so please dress for the conditions of the day.

Accessibility

The talk site is accessible but there is no seating available during the talks which are 15 minutes long. We are a largely accessible site with blue badge parking, accessible toilets at regular intervals and step-free routes around the garden. We have a mobility scooter and wheelchairs available for hire (free of charge). We also often have a volunteer-run buggy to take visitors round the gardens.

Other

As the talks are volunteer-led they're subject to change or cancellation. Ask the Dyffryn Welcome Team when you arrive to see if there are any changes to the schedule.
