The barnyard at Baddesley Clinton is home to the restaurant, shop and plant sales. A visit to the shop at Baddesley is a great way to find the perfect gift or take home a reminder of your visit. Or head to the second-hand bookshop for your next read. At the restaurant you can take a seat indoors or outdoors for a hot meal or an ice cream treat.
You’ll find the restaurant in the barnyard, serving hot and cold food and drinks, including sausage rolls, pasties, sandwiches, cakes, crisps, and confectionery. For those warmer days, we have family favourites such as Magnum, Cornetto, Solero, Mini Milk and individual tubs of locally produced ice cream.
We're open every day from 9am so why not pop in early and start your day with us? Enjoy a delicious breakfast bap with either sausage, bacon or vegetarian sausage, toast and jam or pick from a selection of pastries. Afterwards take a stroll around the grounds whilst it's quiet and be first into the house when it opens at 10.30am.
All items are subject to availability.
The cakes and coffees you buy on site put income straight back into conservation; you’re helping us protect and look after Baddesley and the estate. Thank you.
Most of the food and drink served is prepared on site in our kitchen, using a wide range of ingredients. As a result, we can’t guarantee that any of our food and drink products are completely allergen free.
If you have an allergy or intolerance and would like ingredient information about the food and drink served, please ask the staff, who will be happy to help.
Visited before? We sometimes change our recipes to improve quality and flavour, including the ingredients. When you visit, please speak to one of our team to check the current allergen information for your favourite dish.
If you just want a quick cuppa and a light snack, you should try our Kiosk, which you'll find in the stableyard, right next door to the Bookshop.
It'll be open between 11.00 and 16.00 throughout the school holidays and at weekends during peak periods, serving hot and cold drinks and snacks - including toasted sandwiches. You can also treat yourself to some of our locally-produced ice-cream.
We love to think of the Quartet, who lived at Baddesley during the Victorian era, packing a basket and heading out in the sunshine to enjoy a picnic in the garden.
You're welcome to picnic in the grounds where it's safe to do so – just watch out for the ducks who’ll expect you to share. We’d recommend one of the picnic tables on the front lawn as the best place to picnic so any little ones can play.
Also in the barnyard is the shop, where you'll find year-round inspiration for gifts and souvenirs. Why not treat yourself to beautiful accessories for your home and garden, pick up exclusive Baddesley Clinton tea towels and mugs or browse the selection of cards? You could take home something for tea or your next bake from the range of jams, chutneys and local ales, wines and spirits.
There's a wonderful range of products inspired by the places the National Trust cares for, with patterns of much-loved landscapes or objects from past times. For your little ones there are plenty of items perfect for children of all ages, from books to toys that will get them exploring in the great outdoors.
In the barnyard in front of the main shop is the plant sales area. All the plants are grown in peat-free compost - some of them by our own gardens team. You will also find a selection of pots and decorative items for your garden. But mostly you'll be able to take home seasonal blooms galore to help you brighten up your own space.
There are hundreds of books to buy in the second-hand bookshop, whether you're searching for the perfect holiday read, a long forgotten classic or a bedtime story filled with adventure.
The origins of the Baddesley bookshop stem back to more than 15 years ago when an enthusiastic reader and regular visitor left his ‘library’ of books to the Trust here at Baddesley.
The Baddesley second-hand bookshop was born, and from there book donations began to arrive steadily. There’s a full range of books, from science and medieval history to cookbooks and gardening. There’s sure to be something for everyone’s taste and many of them are as good as new.
It is through your purchases and support that we are able to continue to care for nature, beauty and history for everyone, for ever.
Are your bookshelves stuffed full and groaning under the weight of all those blockbuster novels you've read on the beach during your summer holidays? What about those old textbooks you no longer need, or those reference books you never refer to?
Why not have a clear-out and let us have your unwanted books? We'll find someone who would love to read them - and you'll be helping us to look after this wonderful place.
Just bring along your unwanted books and our team of bookshop volunteers will take care of them.
