Directions from Lapworth Railway Station to Baddesley Clinton
*** Please note that between January - July 2025, service works will be taking place along the original walking route. An alternative, slightly longer route is provided below ***

Journey Time: Approx. 1hr 6mins walk.
Distance: 2.72 miles
Terrain: The route outlined below is relatively flat and consists of a mixture of country roads, main roads, pavements and public footpaths. Good walking footwear is advisable. This route is not suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Directions:
- Arrive at Lapworth Station, turn right downhill through a winding road. Go pass a primary school and a preschool on the left, to the junction at the end.
- At junction turn right onto Old Warwick Road heading towards Hockley Heath.
- Go over the railway bridge, pass a drive on the right and directly opposite left is a footpath down to the canal. Go through the metal gate and head straight onto the canal towpath with water on your right.
- Follow the path right, down a land crossing with water either side of you. Go over a concrete bridge and follow the path to the left, go over the second decorated bridge (Lock 19). Continue straight on, pass where the canal boats park on your left.
- Follow the path to the left and go over a steep brick bridge no36, towards the Grand Union Canal. Go pass a little white house on the right and canal on the left (Lock 20). Continue straight on with the hedge on your right and water on your left.
- You’ll come to a small junction bridge, go over it and turn left following the Grand Union Canal, (should see a no36 badge on the right of the stairs going down). Continue straight under a railway bridge.
- Arrive at junction bridge no37, turn left across over the steep canal bridge, headed towards Birmingham.
- Down the canal with woodland on left and canal on right to bridge no65. Go around a left corner and down the very straight canal path.
- After a slight turning right, come to bridge no66. Turn off here, up a slight hill to the left.
- At the canal exit you’ll arrive at Rising Lane. Turn right over canal bridge no66. Take care going over, keeping to the right.
- At the end of the bridge there’s a hill continuing down, don’t let this trick you. Partway down the hill on the left is the start of a field. There’s a pathway over two wooden platforms and a metal fence, head through this into a muddy field. (Hint: If you’ve reached a turning on the right, you are too far down the hill.)
- Head diagonally across the muddy field to a metal gate. Go through this gate and continue diagonally through a second metal gate and across 2 more wooden platforms. You’ll now be at the bottom of a hill.
- Head straight up the hill towards a metal fence at the top. Once at the top to the right of the fence is a gate, go through the gate to arrive at a single-track road.
- Turn right at the single-track road, after a short distance you’ll see the entrance to Baddesley Clinton and a junction.
- At the junction, head over the road to enter Baddesley Clinton drive, go past the entrance signs and the lodge on your right.
- At the cattle grid on the right is a gate, go through this and keep to the path on right of the tree line. So, the line of trees is on your left and field on your right. Follow this path and soon you’ll be heading directly through the field and headed downhill. Be careful of livestock.
- You’ll come to a brick structure built within the ground and to the left, the end of a fence line with another cattlegrid nearby. Slightly up this fence line is a gate, go through this gate and turn right uphill. Keep to the right with the gate and hedges. You’ll go pass car park on the left and further round to the right, see the entrance path to reception.
Toilets: On arrival, head through the Visitor Welcome building and the toilets are located in the courtyard to your right.
Public Transport: The nearest bus stops are Roal Oak Stop, and Wharf Lane.
Bicycle: Chain loops are located on the side of the fence, upon entry to the Visitor Welcome building. Plan your car free journey via Good Journey
Taxis: Pick up and drop off available to and from Baddesley Clinton by taxi. Please enquire at Lapworth Railway Station or Visitor Reception at Baddesley Clinton.

Directions from Lapworth Railway Station to Packwood House

Directions:
- At Lapworth Railway Station car park, turn left onto Station Lane. Follow Station Lane (this is a long straight road) as it heads up a slight hill and down again. Pass Lapworth Community Church on the left and continue onwards. Head to the end of the road where you'll see a T junction.
- At the end of the road you'll reach Rising Lane. Follow the sign pointing left to Hockley Heath 2 ¾ miles.
- Head up the hill over the railway bridge, and directly after the bridge take the first drive on right, you’ll be going down ‘The Grove’.
- This is a public footpath also known as Millenium Way. Head to the very bottom of the drive where the gates are and to the right there’s the footpath around their property.
- Follow this winding footpath and at the end you’ll come out at a dirt road. Head straight across this and through the metal gate at the other side into a field.
- In this field go straight across to a metal gate at the other side, you’ll end up on a main road (Chessetts Wood Road).
- At the main road turn right, up the road you’ll pass large houses on your left and fields on the right.
- A short distance up you’ll come to a MOT and Wiseman Motor Services sign. Opposite this is a National Trust sign for Packwood Avenue.
- Go down Packwood Avenue, it’s a long straight walk down an avenue of trees either side.
- Half-way down is a bench on the left.
- You’ll come to a wooden gate, with two ponds on the other side. Go through this gate and follow the path straight to a metal gate.
- Go through the metal gate, continue down the final stretch of the avenue of trees to a metal gate at the corner of a footpath. On the way make note of a building to the right of a wall.
- Go through the metal gate on a corner and go down the rose walk. (Turn right through the metal gate and head down the slight hill towards the big building at the bottom of the path).
- Follow the path to the left, enter under the pergola, through the automatic double doors into the Visitor Welcome building.
Toilets: On arrival, head through the Visitor Welcome building and turn right, walking past the plant sales. The toilets are located in the barnyard to your right. Additional toilets can be found in the café.
Public Transport: There are direct buses to Hockley Heath from: Dorridge (5 mins), Solihull (25 mins) and Stratford-Upon-Avon (35 mins). Plan your car free journey via Good Journey
Bicycle: As you approach the Visitor Welcome building from the car park, up the path on the left of the building there are bike racks avilable. Plan your car free journey via Good Journey
Taxis: Pick up and drop off available to and from Packwood House by taxi. Please enquire at Lapworth Railway Station or Visitor Reception at Packwood House.

Moor Street Railway Station free hot drink offer
Enjoy a free, regular size hot drink at either Packwood House or Baddesley Clinton when you arrive by train from Moor Street Railway Station. Simply show your same-day train ticket when you order your drink from the cafe during opening hours.
Terms & Conditions
- This offer can be redeemed between 1st December 2024 and 1st June 2025.
- This offer entitles the valid ticket holder to one free, regular hot drink during the café opening hours at either Packwood House or Baddesley Clinton. Please check the website for details of opening times of the property and the cafés at both locations:
- To claim a free regular hot drink, you must produce your valid adult rail ticket (either on paper or smartphone) for the same day of travel, that shows your journey starting from Birmingham Moor Street.
- Only tickets travelling to Lapworth Railway Station from Birmingham Moor Street Railway Station entitles the ticket holder to a free regular hot drink.
- The free regular hot drink must be claimed on the same day as travelling, as noted on your valid train ticket.
- Only one free regular hot drink can be claimed per valid ticket holder.
- Your one free regular hot drink per valid ticket holder can be claimed at either Baddesley Clinton or Packwood House. They cannot be redeemed at both properties.
- This offer cannot be redeemed against seasonal or promotional drinks.
- This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or offers, and cannot be exchanged for cash, other vouchers, or any other purchasable items.
- Refunds for hot drinks cannot be issued when claimed for free with your valid train ticket.
