We're committed to making sure that Clent Hills is as accessible as possible for all our visitors. Whilst countryside landscapes can present challenges for accessibility, we're taking steps to ensure as many people as possible can access and enjoy connecting with nature. Here you’ll find information about how to make the most of your visit.

Arrival and Parking

  • There are clearly marked, designated accessible parking bays at the Nimmings wood car park.
  • The car park is compact gravel – which may prove difficult for some wheelchair users.
  • There is hardstanding ground outside the independent cafe at Nimmings Wood car park, leading through to the toilets. The path, though fairly smooth, is uneven.
  • The welcome trailer is a short walk from the car park, and located to the left of the cafe. The team can answer any questions you may have about your visit to Clent Hills, and help you pay for your parking - if you're not a National Trust member.
  • There are two bike racks at Nimmings Wood car park.

Moving around the site

  • A large property map can be found near the welcome trailer on the Nimmings Wood carpark. This map will be updated soon, to include information about our new way-marked trails.
  • There is step free access to the toilets, cafe and the top of the hill using the Viewpoint path; which can be found to the left of the cafe, heading under the large Clent Hills sign.
  • The Viewpoint path is sandstone and is uneven in places. Though the incline is less strenuous, it is not an accessible pathway.
  • There are kissing gates and stiles across the property. We're currently updating site maps to highlight where these are.
  • Phone reception is patchy across the hills, at the cafe and car park. No Wi-Fi is available at Clent Hills.

Facilities

  • Clent Hills has one ambulant toilet located behind the cafe at Nimmings Wood car park. This toilet does not include handrails, but it is more spacious than standard toilets.
  • Baby changing facilities are available in both male and female toilets. As well as the ambulant toilet.
  • There are wheelchair accessible picnic benches on the hardstanding ground in front of the café.

Useful resources

  • We're currently creating sensory bags for both adults and children. The bags will be available to collect from the welcome trailer on Nimmings Wood car park. Visitors who are interested in taking a sensory bag on their walk, simply need to ask a member of the welcome team. The sensory bags will include children and adult ear defenders, poppets and fidget toy.
