Drawing trees in charcoal - Ghost Trees art workshop with Richard Gilbert

On Wednesday 18 September, join artist Richard Gilbert for a illustration workshop at Croft Castle.

  • Booking essential
  • Admission applies

Join us for an illustration workshop led by fine artist Richard Gilbert, whose work features in Croft Castle’s Ghost Trees art walk and exhibition.

Heading out into the parkland, you’ll have the chance to complete 3 charcoal drawings ‘en plein air’, with guidance from Richard that will help you explore new methods with useful tips to help develop techniques and compositions. The workshop will be set up a short distance from some of the most notable trees in the parkland, including the 1000 year-old Quarry Oak and The Second Ghost along the art walk, the William Croft Oak.

All drawing materials and paper will be provided, but bring a folding chair if you wish and be prepared to work outside for the duration. There is a 10-minute walk to the location of this workshop. Please be prepared to work outside for the duration. The workshop costs £25 per person (normal admission applies), and is suitable for all abilities. We recommend suitable footwear for a walk into the parkland. Chairs will be provided; however you are welcome to bring your own folding chair if you prefer.
