Park Seat circular walk at Croome

This circular walk will guide you around the 'Capability' Brown landscape at Croome in Worcestershire. On a clear day you will be rewarded with far-reaching views across the Worcestershire countryside to Croome's outer eye-catchers and follies in the distance.

Start point

Croome visitor centre, WR8 9DW.

Step 1

From the visitor centre, follow the path through the Wilderness Walk shrubbery to a gate that brings you to the top of Church Hill. Walk around the front of the church and pass through a metal gate into Church Shrubbery. Follow the path and you'll eventually pass a bird hide on your left.

Step 2

Follow the path and cross a tarmac road. Continue along the path until you reach the Rotunda. Just beyond there are some steps leading down to a metal gate into the parkland. Go through the gate and walk straight ahead towards the ridge, when you reach the concrete path turn right along the ridge.

Step 3

Keep walking along the ridge of the field, which has great views of the Malvern Hills on your right. You will see Park Seat in the distance in front of you.

Step 4

From Park Seat, walk down the slope towards the river. Keeping the river on your left, follow the path back to the house, which you can see in the distance.

Step 5

From the house follow the gravel and tarmac path along side the river and then turn right, up the hill back to the church and visitor centre.
