Monk's walk to Fountains Abbey
Join a guided walk following in the footsteps of the Cistercian monks to Fountains Abbey.

Everyone is welcome to head on a monthly walk led by our volunteers. Follow in the footsteps of the Cistercian monks on an ancient trail leading you to Fountains Abbey. Along the way, you'll be met with expansive views from Riva Hill to Brimham Rocks.
This is an 8 mile walk and will take approximately 5 hours - including a morning coffee break and a picnic stop Please bring your own refreshments and picnics. Don't worry about walking back to Brimham Rocks as we'll be hopping on the DalesBus 825 service at Fountains Abbey at 4:40pm. The bus fare back costs £3, under 19's travel fare is £1.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a short lead and they must also be able to climb over stiles.
These walks will take place on the last Sunday of every month.

- Suitability
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Meeting point
Meet your walks guides at the Welcome Hut in the car park at 11am.
- What to bring and wear
Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear with good ankle support. Please bring your own refreshments and a picnic. Don't forget your £3 for the bus fare back.
- Accessibility
This walk is not suitable for prams, mobility scooters or wheelchairs. There are a couple of stiles on route which people and dogs must be able to climb over. There will be an opportunity to turn back to Brimham Rocks at the end of 'Step 2'. At this point you'll have completed a third of the walk along some rough ground and inclines. You can reverse your steps back to Brimham Rocks.

Please note that there are lots of fields along the route which contain livestock. This is a free guided walk. Normal car parking charges apply. National Trust members park for free when you scan your membership card. The bus fare back is a maximum of £2 per person.
