Make it York Residents' Festival
The garden at Goddards hasn't opened for the season when the Visit York Residents' Festival takes place in January, so it's opening its doors to residents for free on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 March, 11am - 4pm.

This five-acre garden on the edge of York racecourse is often described as a hidden gem. Bought from the Terry family as the regional office of the National Trust, the gardens are opened on selected days and are a surprise pocket of nature in the city suburbs.
Designed by George Dillistone in close liaison with Noel Terry, at the same time he built his Arts and Crafts home with Walter Brierley. A series of interlocking garden rooms continue to emulate the style outside. Small enough to feel personal, large enough to impress. Bring a picnic or grab a take away as you explore formal terraces, the orchard, vegetable garden and glasshouse and wildlife areas.
Head to the website for more details of what to expect and plan your visit to Goddards. Booking is not required. Accessible parking available, please arrive on foot or by bike. The house is not open to visitors and there are takeaway refreshments on the terrace, but no indoor tables.
To take advantage of this offer, please present a valid York Card, student card or identity card that proves your York residency. If presenting an identity card, this must clearly state ‘York’ (e.g. driving licence or older person’s bus pass).
